Hi Friends. There is no easy way to say this. Sunday, November 24th, 2024 will be our last dinner service at Gaskins.
Deciding to close has been the hardest decision of our life. As strange as it feels to say goodbye, we know that what we have created, with all of you, has been truly spectacular. There is not one big reason, rather an understanding that after nearly10 years of owning & operating a busy, dynamic restaurant, our family is ready for a change.
Gaskins will remain the most rewarding, invigorating and worthwhile thing we’ve ever done. While endings feel heartbreaking, we know they offer so much opportunity.
We’ve spent a decade building, dreaming, cooking & hosting at this special spot. It’s been so much more than a restaurant. And that is thanks to the people who’ve worked with us. They’ve brought all of themselves to this place and that’s what made Gaskins a success. Food infused with love, cooked by people who cultivate a culture of support & respect. The folks who take care of all of you are pure magic. They know your families, walk fussy babies around the dining room, remember milestones, become friends. The hardest part of moving on, will be saying goodbye to them.
We’re excited to celebrate over these coming weeks. Gathering & eating. Laughing, hugging, probably wading in a sea of tears. We aren’t going anywhere, we love Germantown. We’re eager to find the next folks who can keep this little corner of Church & Main alight with hospitality.
We have deep gratitude for everyone who has walked through these doors - had a Negroni, ordered fries & a Caesar, crashed upstairs on NYE, launched their own business, cried in the walk-in, watched Milo grow, washed dishes, scraped years & layers off of floors, hosted a pop-up, proposed, grieved, held a boundary, danced on the bar, cooked for over 200 guests, popped balloons with a steak knife, wore matching outfits, cleaned dreadful ketchup jars, sang karaoke, donated to a fundraiser, felt happy to be here and told us so.
We are forever touched by you. We never expected this place would give us so much. A community, a family, a purpose. Thank you.
Love,
Sarah & Nick
